TREES AND MEMORIES

SUPER 8

In my memories, there are always trees. Throughout my childhood, trees were an indispensable constant. There’s a deep bond between trees and memories. When I had to point out things in the world because they didn’t have names yet, I already had my tree, where I dreamed of building a small shelter. And there were already memories, in the form of lights and shadows, whites and blacks. There were memories in focus and memories that were already blurred because we were too close to fix them on that magical thing that adults called film. Veronica and Carmine also have their trees and their memories. I’ve told them through this special video, shot entirely on film, with 70s film cameras used for classic home movies. Veronica and Carmine wanted a video that wasn’t the typical cheesy wedding video, but something unique, livelier, and authentic. In my memories, there are always trees. JUNE, SHE’LL CHANGE HER TUNE

Where there are trees, there are memories. And where there are memories, it’s likely that I am there to capture them, as it happened with Veronica and Carmine. It was June, an unusually mild June. Then there are the places of the heart, lifelong friends, good wine, and good music. And memories not blurred but vivid, just enough to become malleable material, to be used whenever we feel the need, to remind us of who we are.

TO DAYDREAM

You can daydream. It’s easy, you can do it at any time of the day. It’s something personal and entirely yours; take all the time you need, no one will notice. Because there are thousands of ways to daydream, and you can do it on thousands of occasions. But among trees and memories, it’s easier. Easy as looking at a photograph and returning in memory to the exact moment it was taken. Because trees and memories are the nourishment of life itself. Mind you, don’t forget to daydream.

THE LOGIC OF TIME

Between trees and memories, there’s also a memorable party, one of those where the next day you wake up not remembering much, but with that feeling that tightens your throat, as if to tell you that you’d start it all over again, that beautiful things seem to end too soon, that the world spins faster when you’re having fun. Among all the moments of a wedding, the party is what I prefer. Here is an article dedicated to my darker side, which becomes more pronounced precisely during these parties.

Between trees and memories, time has its own logic that we struggle to understand.

UN MATRIMONIO IN PELLICOLA

Above, you saw the video that Veronica and Carmine chose to create. So, in addition to digital photographs, they chose to include some shots on film to give meaning to the story itself and liven it up with the classic imperfection of film rolls.
